LBI Life: What’s Happening in September
Are you going to be on the island next month and want to know what happening? Check out our list of just a fraction of the events and activities that Long Beach Island has to offer locals and visitors alike.
September 1 – Drill your own sea glass at SwellColors Glass Studio & Gallery from 11am to 3pm every Saturday until December. Bring up to 3 pieces of your own glass and practice on glass from the studio. Cost is $35 per person.
September 2 – Viking Village Art & Craft Show: Runs from 10am to 4pm rain or shine. Free Admission to see a large variety of Shops, boats, gourmet coffee bar, seafood, and fresh produce. Located at 19th & Bayview, Barnegat Light, at Viking Village.
September 2 – LBI Museum Bake Sale from 8am to 2pm.
September 4 – ALO Critter Round Up: Learn about the wildlife that lives at Ship Bottom Bay Beach. Volunteers seine through the water and talk about the critters they safety find and put back into the water. This event is free, but donations are accepted.
September 6 – See, Touch, and Learn from living baby shellfish at RCTB nurseries – Surf City Yacht Club. This event runs from 5pm to 6pm.
September 7 – The Standup Paddle Eco-tour offers tours 9am,11am,1pm for $40 per person. Checkout out their website for schedule of tours and meet up locations.
September 9 – 4th Annual Cycle4Awareness Cycling Event. September 9, 2018 from 9am to 2pm – the route runs from Barnegat Light to Holgate Beach. Those who want to participate, but can’t do 36-miles can opt for two shorter distances – 18 miles from Barnegat Light to Ship Bottom and back or 5 miles within the island.
September 12 – St. Francis of Assisi Parish is running a Bus Trip to Golden Nugget Casino in Atlantic City. The bus leaves St. Francis of Assisi Church at 9:45 am and will return at 6:15 pm. Tickets are $25 and you will receive $25 in slot play and a $5.00 food voucher. A limited amount of tickets are available.
September 15 – 4th Annual Seafood Festival: Runs from 3pm to 9pm at the Taylor Avenue Ball Field.
September 16 – Viking Village Antique Show: Over 60 dealers including furniture, architectural and industrial findings, nautical items, vintage clothing, kitchenware, jewelry, collectibles & memorabilia. Admission is free – event runs rain or or shine.
September 16 – LBI Annual Triathlon/Duathlon/Aquabike Event: Start time – 7:20 am at Bayview Park. Proceeds benefit: Southern Regional Interact Club.
September 17 – Hackensack Meridian Health Southern Ocean Medical Center will be at St. Francis Community Center from 9:30am to 11am for Wellness Screenings. Screenings will include: Blood Pressure, Cholesterol, Glucose, Stroke Risk Assessment, Body Mass Index and Pulse. Fasting is NOT required. This event is Free, but registration is required.
September 24 – the LBI Museum is holding their Fall Fundraiser Dinner at Bistro 14. Dinner starts at 6pm. Reserve with Sue Whiting 609.290.5225.
September 29-30 – LBI Chowderfest: Chowderfest Weekend goes on rain or shine at the Taylor Avenue ball field, Ninth Street and Taylor Avenue in Beach Haven from 11am to 4pm.
